Documentary filmmaker and cinematographer Koray Kesik arrested in Izmir

 

In a late-night raid at his residence in Izmir, documentary filmmaker and cinematographer Koray Kesik was taken into custody. The specifics of the allegations against Kesik remain undisclosed. The Media and Law Studies Association's (MLSA) Legal Unit is preparing to be present in Izmir to support his defense.

Authorities have imposed  a 24-hour restriction on his access to legal counsel.
About Koray Kesik

Born in 1971 in Giresun, a coastal city in the Black Sea region of Turkey, Kesik began his career in 1993 as an assistant at VTR Research Production Management company. Until 2008, he worked on numerous documentaries, oral histories, promotional films, and commercials, serving in roles ranging from assistant to camera operator and cinematographer. Since 2008, he has been working independently as a cinematographer on documentary films in collaboration with various directors.
