Sibel Tekin, a documentary filmmaker, was acquitted of charges related to covering a protest nine years ago outside the NTV Ankara Representative Office. Tekin had been accused of "making propaganda for an organization" and "obstructing the freedom to work and conduct business." At the fourth hearing, held at Ankara’s 2nd High Criminal Court, the judge ruled there was insufficient evidence to support the allegations.
During the session, witness Nazlı Buket Yazıcı, attending via video link, testified that although she was present at the NTV building on the day of the protest, she did not see Tekin inside. The prosecutor stated that there was no conclusive visual proof of Tekin entering the building and requested her acquittal due to lack of evidence.
The court ruled in Tekin’s favor, concluding that the alleged offenses were unproven and ordering her acquittal.
