Mete Cem Bahtiyar, a reporter who formerly worked for the BirGün newspaper, was arrested by court order in Balıkesir province on 7 February, according to a report by Gazete Karınca.
Bahtiyar was detained a week earlier during a raid on his home, according to a report by news over his social media posts and news reports that appeared in BirGün. His laptop, mobile phone and a large number of books during a search of his home.
He was later arrested on terror propaganda charges and placed in pre-trial detention at Bandırma Prison.
