In Diyarbakır, journalists Derya Us and Nurcan Yalçın, along with six others, were detained in early morning raids (on 6 May) conducted by police as part of an investigation led by the Diyarbakır Public Prosecutor's Office. The detainees are expected to give their statements at the police station today.
The individuals were taken into custody on charges of "membership in an organization" and "violating the law on the prevention of terrorism financing." The investigation has been marked by a confidentiality order. The detained individuals, including journalists Us and Yalçın, are being held at the Diyarbakır Police Department's Anti-Terrorism Branch, where their formal police statements are scheduled to commence today.
