In Van, a province located in eastern Turkey, journalists Arif Aslan, Oktay Candemir, and Lokman Gezgin were detained following a police raid on their homes early in the morning. Attorney Cihat Durmaz, who met with the detained journalists, stated that there is a secrecy order on their case files.

During the home raids in Van, journalists Lokman Gezgin, Oktay Candemir, and Arif Aslan were taken into custody. The journalists are currently being held at the Van Police Directorate, where Attorney Cihat Durmaz was able to meet with them. Durmaz reported that Aslan, Candemir, and Gezgin are in good health and confirmed the presence of a secrecy order on their files.

Attorney Durmaz provided further details, stating, “Our current understanding is that the case is related to an investigation in Ankara. I was able to meet with them at the police station as there is no ban on attorney visits, and their health is fine. Their statements will be taken here in Van, and they will not be transported to Ankara." He indicated that the process of taking their statements is expected to commence on either Wednesday or Thursday.
