Ankara – The Turkish Constitutional Court has met in order to discuss the individual applications of 9 journalists including former Cumhuriyet writers and executives as well as imprisoned journalists Ahmet Altan and Nazlı Ilıcak.
The meeting started at 9:30 in the morning with the attendance of all court members. Former Cumhuriyet Executive President Akın Atalay, Editor-in-Chief Murat Sabancı, writer Kadri Gürsel, reporter Ahmet Şık are among those whose applications are being reviewed.
Here’s a list of the nine journalists whose applications are reviewed by the Court: Ahmet Altan, Nazlı Ilıcak, former Cumhuriyet staff Bülent Utku, Murat Sabuncu, Kadri Gürsel, Akın Atalay, Ahmet Şık, journalist Murat Aksoy, and former Zaman columnist Ali Bulaç.
The meeting is expected to end later today and a judgement is expected. MLSA will be following the meeting closely.
