Batman - The 18th hearing was held in the case in which 31 people, including journalist Sonya Bayık, are being tried on charges of “violating Law No. 2911” over a press statement they made in Hasankeyf, a historic town in southeastern Turkey’s Batman province.
The hearing took place at the Batman 9th Criminal Court of First Instance. Bayık’s lawyer, Müslüm Dalar, submitted a petition of excuse to the court and did not attend the session.
The panel of judges was present at the hearing. The court reiterated its decisions from the previous hearing and ruled that the arrest warrants issued for two of the defendants be inquired about again.
The brief hearing was adjourned to June 9 at 9:15 a.m. to address deficiencies in the case file.
