Two investigations were launched against journalist Alican Uludağ due to his posts regarding the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure related to a building that collapsed in Gebze, resulting in the deaths of four people, and due to a complaint by Court of Cassation member and former Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor Yüksel Kocaman. A lawsuit was also filed against Uludağ on the grounds of his post claiming that Berk Akand, who was sentenced to 18 years and 9 months in the Şule Çet case, had been "released." A prison sentence of up to 3 years is being sought for Uludağ.
Two investigations and one lawsuit were opened against journalist Alican Uludağ. The Gebze Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation against journalist Uludağ on the charge of "openly spreading misleading information to the public," citing his social media posts about the responsibility of the Ministry of Transport due to a subway construction passing underneath the Arslan Apartment, which collapsed on October 29, 2024, resulting in the deaths of four people.
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office claimed that Uludağ's posts "caused fear and panic among the local population." Uludağ was summoned to testify as part of the investigation.
Investigation based on Yüksel Kocaman's complaint
Additionally, an investigation was launched against Uludağ on the charges of "slander," "insult," and "openly spreading misleading information to the public," based on a complaint by Court of Cassation member and former Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor Yüksel Kocaman.
The investigation was based on Uludağ's post on his social media account, which said: "Another photo from the past has surfaced of Court of Cassation member Yüksel Kocaman, who is now under scrutiny in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan case. During his tenure as Ankara Chief Prosecutor, Kocaman introduced a man named Sadık Karayel to Erdoğan. So, who is Sadık Karayel? He is the person whom former Police Chief Necmettin Yüksek—once detained in the Bataklık case—described as 'the person who introduced me to drug lord Nejat Daş,' and who was also an AKP Altındağ District Executive. Nothing in the Bataklık file has touched this man."
It was learned that Uludağ gave his testimony today in connection with the investigation.
Lawsuit over post about Şule Çet case convict Berk Akand
In addition, the investigation into Uludağ’s post, which shared a photo of Berk Akand—who was sentenced to 18 years and 9 months in prison in the case regarding university student Şule Çet, who was sexually assaulted and "fell" to her death under suspicious circumstances from the 20th floor of a plaza in Ankara—taken outside, suggesting Akand had been "released," has been concluded.
In the indictment prepared by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that Akand was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison for aiding intentional killing, 5 years for aiding sexual assault, and 1 year and 3 months for deprivation of liberty, and that the rulings became final following appeals and review by the Court of Cassation.
The indictment stated that Akand was transferred to an open penal institution on June 5, 2025, and that due to a social media post made during his leave, disciplinary actions were taken against him, and his conditions in the open institution were terminated, leading to his transfer to Aksaray Type T Closed Penal Institution.
The indictment stated that Uludağ’s post constituted the elements of the alleged crime and requested that he be sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison.
