This week, journalists, writers, activists, and students will appear before judges due to their activities related to freedom of expression, the right to report news, and publishing efforts that consider public interest. In the trials to be held in Diyarbakır, Istanbul, and Bitlis, journalists’ social media posts, participation in protests, and the news they produced are being considered as criminal evidence. Despite the European Court of Human Rights’ violation rulings, the continuation of trials with detention and the pressures on press freedom are once again being brought into courtrooms.
