ADANA – As part of the investigation conducted by the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding the live broadcast from Incirlik Air Base, ANKA News Agency Editor-in-Chief Kenan Şener, Koza TV reporter Sergen Ölçer, Koza TV General Manager Mehlika Bilen, and Adana Metropolitan Municipality employee Güral Bıçakçı, who were taken into custody, have completed their statements at the police station. The journalists are expected to be referred to the prosecutor’s office tomorrow.
Within the scope of the investigation launched on the grounds of the live broadcast made from ANKA News Agency’s social media account under the headline “Operational activity at Incirlik Air Base,” ANKA Editor-in-Chief Kenan Şener, Koza TV reporter Sergen Ölçer, Koza TV General Manager Mehlika Bilen, and Adana Metropolitan Municipality employee Güral Bıçakçı were taken into custody.
In the statements taken at the Security Branch Directorate of the Adana Police Department, journalists were asked who requested the live broadcast, where the images were obtained from, and on behalf of which institution the broadcast was carried out.
In the statements, it was stated that the filming was carried out from a publicly open area, that the live broadcast was given through a link belonging to ANKA News Agency, and that Koza TV did not make any recording regarding the broadcast.
Koza TV General Manager Mehlika Bilen, in her statement given at the police station, said that ANKA Editor-in-Chief Kenan Şener called her and asked for images to be taken from Incirlik Air Base. Upon this, Bilen stated that she requested technical support from Güral Bıçakçı, who works on a freelance basis outside working hours, and conveyed that the filming was carried out from a building close to the base.
Güral Bıçakçı, in his statement, said that Mehlika Bilen asked him to obtain images from Incirlik Air Base on behalf of ANKA, and that he went to the filming together with Koza TV reporter Sergen Ölçer. Bıçakçı said that the live broadcast was carried out by himself, that Koza TV did not make any recording regarding the broadcast, and that the broadcast was carried out through a link belonging to ANKA.
The four people whose procedures at the police station have been completed are expected to be referred to the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office tomorrow.
