Journalist Durket Süren spends third night in police cells

Durket Süren, a reporter for the Pro-Kurdish and feminist news agency JinNews, has been held in police custody for three days in Diyarbakır's Lice district, the independent news website Gazete Karınca reported on 4 March. 

Süren was detained by police in Diyarbakır on 1 March while she was following a news story in the area. Police said there was a search warrant out in her name and took her to the  Diyarbakır Police Department.

The journalist has been held at the Counterterrorism Unit detention center for the past three days. A "restriction" order was imposed on her case. 

Mezopotamya news agency reported that Süren was accused of "violating the law against the financing of terrorism," "propaganda for membership in a terrorist organization" and "membership in a terrorist organization."

Mezopotamya said it is expected that Süren will appear before a prosecutor on Monday, March 5 at the Diyarbakır Courthouse.
