Several journalism and free speech trials were held last week. Below is a list of the hearings monitored by Media and Law Studies Association (MLSA) last week:
Journalists Baransu and Çoban’s trial adjourned until 19 June
18th hearing of the case where since shut down Taraf daily’s correspondent Mehmet Baransu and former Managing Editor Murat Şevki Çoban stand trial took place at Anadolu 10th High Criminal Court. It was ruled that Baransu should be brought before the court for the next hearing, which will take place on 19 June.

Evrensel reporter’s trial for printing prosecutor’s name adjourned until March 25
The trial of Evrensel daily’s court reporter Cansu Pişkin, where she faces up to three years for “disclosing the identity of a public official involved in counterterrorism duty,” is adjourned until 25 March.
Evrensel Editor-in-Chief Fatih Polat is acquitted
An İstanbul court acquitted Evrensel daily Editor-in-Chief Fatih Polat, who was charged with “violating the confidentiality of communication between persons” and “publicizing the contents of a communication between persons.”

MA reporter Yasin Kobulan is sentenced to 1 year 6 months 22 days in prison
Mesopotamia News Agency reporter Yasin Kobulan is sentenced to 1 year 6 months and 22 days in prison for “repeatedly making propaganda for a terrorist organization.” The sentence is deferred.
