Building on the success of last year’s inaugural dialogue in Athens, the Media and Law Studies Association (MLSA) will host the Second Turkey-Greece Journalists Dialogue Platform from November 29 to December 1, 2024 in Istanbul.
The event, supported by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF), brings together journalists from both countries to continue their commitment to fostering media integrity, dismantling stereotypes, and advancing ethical journalism.
Key sessions will include:
- Exploring peace journalism and media values, with insights from journalists in Turkey and Greece.
- Discussions on sensitive issues, such as minority rights, nationalism, and cross-border challenges, moderated by experts like Barış Altıntaş, Co-Director of MLSA.
- Examination of media ownership models and their impact on journalistic independence, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ceren Sözeri of Galatasaray University.
- Practical workshops on fact-checking, misinformation detection, and framing divisive topics with empathy.
A brainstorming session on the final day will focus on developing collaborative projects, including a joint media observation group and regular monitoring reports to enhance cross-border journalistic cooperation.
This second edition of the dialogue marks another milestone in bridging divides and fostering understanding between Turkish and Greek media communities.
