Twenty-three journalists and print press workers from the pro-Kurdish Özgürlükçü Demokrasi newspaper, including the newspaper's owner İhsan Yaşar, Managing Editor İshak Yasul and Gün Print Press owner Kasım Zengin, will likely be taken before prosecutors on 5 April during the day, according to the Mezopotamya news agency.
On March 28, the Beyoğlu office of the newspaper in Istanbul was raided by police, who detained 23 people, including journalists and print press workers. The detainees' procedures at the Police Department were completed on 4 April and they are expected to be taken before prosecutors at the Çağlayan Courthouse in Istanbul.
The prosecutor then might release the detainees or refer them to a judgeship demanding their arrest.
Also on 4 April, the newspaper's employees Reyhan Hacıoğlu, Hicran Ürün, Mehmet Beyazıt, PInar Tarlak, Nedim Demirkıran, M. Ali Çelebi and Ramazan Sola were taken into custody as part of a continuing operation into the newspaper.
The Turkish government also allegedly appointed trustees assigned by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) to run the newspaper.
